We have just returned from a week in North Tyne Cottage which is next to the Boatside Inn just outside Hexham. It was lovely and peaceful, lots to see and do in the local area. Cottage had great facilities, best equipped kitchen we have ever had on a self catering holiday. Read less

It was near enough to Hexham to access any shopping we needed, plus we had the option of eating in the Boatside Inn which we did on a couple of the evenings.

Our one bedroom cottage (South Tyne Side) was very well appointed and just across a courtyard from the pub. The pub was busy but the courtyard was not noisy. the food, ales and cider were great.

Convenient for Hexham and surrounding area.
Dislikes:
The sloping ceiling in the bedroom is a hazard for banging the head. This was not as dangerous as the bathroom where the ceiling precludes standing up in the bath. Tall/elderly people beware!

Hi firstly may I comment that your were in on of the Self Catering Cottage South Tyne for the week. The cottage is self catering NOT B&B. The bed in the cottage is a Kingsize Bed and actually has a new matress bought in February 2013. The bathroom does have a sloping roof but has a adequate bath with a hand held shower head attachment on the bath taps. It is not suitable to stand in the shower nor is it designed to do so. I can asure you the bathroom is not dangerous. regards Carol

The meals were amazing - both taste and size! - and all the staff we met were friendly and efficient. Hadrian's Wall and forts were within easy reach and it was a great location to be based at. The whole ambience was excellent. Dinner, plentiful and tasty, breakfast also. We did not need lunch! A place to return to which we will indeed do. An easy distance from Hexham where our son stays.

Superb room, quite location apart from the trains. Convenient for Hexham without being in the town. The food I did manage to get was very good. Friendly staff.
Dislikes:
Bed not as comfortable as I hoped, and I didn't realise the train line was so close until a train woke me up in the morning.
